Harry Tanfield clinched the team’s first UCI success with victory on stage one of the Tour of Quanzhou Bay.
And Rory Townsend hammered home the triumph 10 seconds later as he completed a one-two for Tim Elverson’s outfit in Jinjiang, China.
The duo produced their heroics from a five-man breakaway, with Tanfield finishing 1min 3sec clear of the main peloton to pull on the blue leader’s jersey.
The Great Ayton talent gapped his fellow escapees in the finale of the 87.6km stage before Townsend beat Ben Hamilton, of Team Skoda Racing, in the sprint for second.
Daniel Bonello, from the Australian outfit St George, crossed the line in fourth, with Hamilton’s team-mate Alex West fifth.
Townsend, who grabbed the green jersey of the lead in the points classification, also clinched the mountains jersey after stage one of the three-day UCI 2.2 race.
Max Stedman and James Lowsley-Williams finished safely in the main bunch, ensuring victory in the team classification completed a memorable start to the race. Click here for the full result.
