Sam Lowe is aiming to raise his game and deliver success for BIKE Channel Canyon.
The 22-year-old, from Chellaston, has been signed by Britain’s newest professional cycling team for the 2017 campaign.
Lowe makes the switch from Team Wiggins after a campaign which saw him make his Tour de Yorkshire debut and finish 21st in the RideLondon Classic.
The former national junior road race champion, who was second to Owain Doull in the under-23 contest in 2015, has been bowled over by his first impressions of the new UCI Continental outfit.
Among his team-mates will be Chris Opie, Rob Partridge and George Atkins, while the team boasts Sky television channel BIKE and German bike manufacturer Canyon as title sponsors.
Now the hard work begins. And Lowe is determined to get the confidence flowing with some good early results.
He said:
“Obviously, signing for the team is something I’m very pleased about and with the sponsors, staff and fellow riders who are involved, it promises to be a encouraging new project.
“My first impressions of the team are very positive and following our first get-together everyone has managed to settle into the group well.
“That is something we’ll be able to take forward going into the start of the season and throughout next year.
“My ambitions for 2017 will be to get some results under my belt. I feel that’s something that will give me the confidence to then build on my past few seasons of racing going forwards.”
