A superb team effort in the Leicester Castle Classic narrowly failed to deliver Grand Prix Series glory for Dexter Gardias.
Tim Elverson’s troops rode an aggressive race, taking it on from the front as they attempted to protect the 26-year-old’s five-point lead over Johnny McEvoy.
But in the end they were beaten by a single point as the Madison Genesis man sprinted to fourth place and Gardias crossed the line in seventh.
McEvoy’s team-mate Connor Swift won the race from JLT Condor’s Brenton Jones and Chris Latham, of Team Wiggins.
Harry Tanfield was the first of the BIKE Channel Canyon squad home in fifth, with James Lowsley-Williams, Rory Townsend and Chris Opie finished 13th, 14th and 17th respectively.
McEvoy ended the four-round series with 89 points, to Gardias’ 88. A total of 30 points were on offer for a win, with second place earning 28, third 26 and so on.
