Joe Fry has told of his relief after securing a contract with BIKE Channel Canyon.
The 19-year-old became the youngest winner of the Tour of the Reservoir in April as he enjoyed a memorable maiden campaign in the senior ranks with Pedal Heaven.
But the Potters Bar teenager came crashing back to earth when it was announced in October the Hampshire-based team would no longer race professionally.
Fry feared he would not have a team for 2017 but then came a call from his former Pedal Heaven sports director Tim Elverson.
With the backing of television channel BIKE and German bike manufacturers Canyon as title sponsors, Elverson has founded UCI Continental newcomers BIKE Channel Canyon.
Fry said:
“It was great to get the phone call from Tim, telling me the big plans he had for a new team were about to go ahead and he wanted me to be part of it.
“After all the fear of not having a team for the 2017 season, it was a massive relief to finally hear the good news.
“We met up for the first time last month. The whole team already gels together well and we all get along.
“I’m confident we will have a good time next season but get the job done as well.”
