Tim Elverson has resisted the temptation to freshen up his Tour Series troops for tonight’s tear-up in Croydon (7.30pm).
Following Chris Opie‘s individual success in the opening round in Redditch, the sports director has seen crashes undermine his team’s challenge for overall honours in their past three outings.
Matt Nowell took a tumble with a lap to go at Stoke, with the squad well set for victory and in position to tear the leaders’ jerseys from the grasp of JLT Condor.
Opie was among those to hit the deck in Northwich the following night, while Rory Townsend brought down Jack Pullar when well placed at Wembley Park on Tuesday.
It has all added up to a frustrating opening week of action for Elverson & Co. However, he is confident his men can get back on track tonight as we reach the halfway stage of the series.
Opie, Nowell, Townsend and Pullar will all continue in Croydon and they are once again joined by James Lowsley-Williams.
Lowsley-Williams has arguably been BIKE Channel Canyon‘s man of the series to date, having finished 13th in Redditch and third in Stoke before a fine display saw him finish fourth at Wembley.
The team currently sit third in the standings, with ground to make up on leaders JLT and second-placed Madison Genesis. However, there is plenty of time left with five more races after tonight’s battle.
