Alex Richardson is still pinching himself after realising his dream of becoming a professional cyclist.
However, the 26-year-old, from Kingston, is refusing to rest on his laurels after signing for BIKE Channel Canyon.
Richardson’s move to Britain’s newest UCI Continental outfit caps a rapid rise to the paid ranks.
A mere 17 months after entering his first race, he is preparing for a first season in the professional peloton.
And having given up a job as a broker in the city to pursue his dream, he can’t wait to get started for the exciting new outfit.
Richardson, who rode for Pedal Heaven’s Excel Academy last season, said:
“I feel very lucky to be part of such a fantastic project. The team has some awesome sponsors who will assist the riders in the every-day and longer term goals.
“The personalities on the team are very well balanced and everyone has similar ambitions, which has already created a great atmosphere.
“It’s a big step up for me in a short period of time. I’ve been set my goals for the year, I’m confident I can rise to the challenge and I remain extremely motivated to do so.
“So I’m hoping for continued progression – not only for myself but my colleagues, too.”
